Post on namepros Appraisal Section

SneakMailer.com
I have developed it into an anonymous e-mailer. Any value??

for the Name $10
for the concept -$100,000,000 (the average value of the Supposed fortune awaiting the receipent of all the Dodgy emails sent by people using anonymous e-mailer tools

With the hassles everyone has with SPAM email and the heartache caused to hundreds of people by being ripped-off by them. Why,WHY would anyone even consider registering such a crass, crappy,Potentially Criminally inclined names as yours. The mere promotion of a SPAM Creation tool is illegal in some countries.

My tips for your domaining future.
1/ Dump this name now.
2/ Assess your domaining future.
3/ Take up something more socially acceptable ,like kicking over trashcans or Spraypainting Graffiti.

P.S. You may not like these comments.Tough. Some of those being bombarded by your 'Clients' Spoofed emails may very well be other Namepros Members. Wait until they get bombarded. You may just find your own PM inbox is bombarded by immense levels of SPAM.

Lose the name and Concept FAST loser

PayPal mandatory, says eBay Australia

PayPal mandatory, says eBay Australia

ONLINE auction website eBay is using Australia as a guinea pig to trial a new policy where all other modes of payment are barred except its own transaction gateway, PayPal.
Direct deposits, personal cheques and money orders will no longer be payment options from June 17. This is the first time these restrictions will be imposed by eBay anywhere in the world and could be enforced in other markets in the future.

Buyers will have to pay for items via PayPal, cash-on-delivery or Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards but these transactions would be processed by PayPal as well.

My Posted response to this news item and the many short-sighted comments
is the following quote

Err Guys, most of you are forgetting one very important point.
eBAY is a Commercially run Website not a GodGiven Right.
Talking about government intervention is Madness
You don't want another Snowe style Bill controlling internet usage.

I think eBay profits will increase in time because of this policy.
Confidence of the average eBay/Paypal user will increase due to the better control of transactions.eBAY has better chance of tracking and ensuring safe transactions via PayPal than any using alternative methods.

eBAY owns/control PayPal ,it does not have access to all the other methods people use online to track the transactions.
Requiring exclusive use of Paypal for eBay transactions is no different than Australian Government Requiring Exclusive Use of their own issued banknotes and coinage for payment of goods/service. No-one in Australia can print their own banknotes and than expect them to be usable by others.

Any store can issue their own internal coupons/voucher/ StoreCash/ChargeCards / Whatever ,but will not / cannot expect to accept the same things issued by the oppostion store across the road.

If you don't like their policies ,LEAVE.
If that affects eBay profits, then eBay will/may re-consider the policy
My prediction is an initial 10-20% user reduction ,than a general increase to even higher level of usage than at present.

Is having a .info Domain Name for your website worthwhile?

Deciding on a Domain Name for your planned or existing website can often be a harrowing and expensive proposition.
Often the only gTLD or domain extension considered is a .com.
There are several compelling reasons why a .info can be a better or equally valid choice.
  • Current Market value
Because of various promotions last year, and occasional specials, .info's value is now deemed to be less than some other gTLDS.
This doesn't mean they are worthless.
If the retail price was the same as other gTLDs would people still buy it?
Yes of course , retail prices for .info's at most Domain Name Registration sites are the same prices than .com domains

  • Suitability
.Info means information ,and is what most of the internet is about
Imparting information about products and services a company is selling.
Information about your family ,business, neighbourhood, diseases or whatever else.
Isn't that exactly why you have a website ?
www.minisite.info is a more descriptive url for minisite information than
    www.barefoottech.net/minisite/index.html

  • Availability
Because of the mindset of some people , "Free" or "Cheap" means "Valueless" , therefore they don't use the gTLD .info for their web-sites.
Other people have the flawed idea that .info can't be a "Real" tld so they don't get them for investment purposes.
Therefore good keyword and search friendly names are often still available at the above "Bargain Prices" and are very suitable for use.
Even more suitable than choosing a less than search friendly
name just because it is available as a .COM.

  • Acceptability
Most users of the internet, i.e. the average websurfer, will use .info sites.
You remember them, the ones the websites is being created for, utilise search engines and media listings to find a Website URL's.
They than use the relevant URL regardless of the .gTLD.
Major websites, including several government agencies use .info for their advertised URL's.
    (e.g. NSW Countrylink Rail )

Conclusions
  • Yes .Info are worth something.

  • Value for money often (not always, but neither is all .com's)

  • Good names in .info can be worth a lot more than a lousy .com

  • Everyone should investigate all gTLD's and get rid of their ill informed prejudices

  • .info is not the "Devils TLD" which is the attitude of some people

  • Think not "cheap" ,think instead "Incredibly Great Value"
